This beautiful newborn boy was just three weeks old when I photographed him at home with his parents. Looking back at the photographs, I am reminded of the total and utter love that I was so privileged to witness. What an honour it is to be present at such a special time in a new family's life.
It may come as quite a surprise, but I find photographing newborns very calming and relaxing. At a newborn session I have to totally let go and allow the baby to dictate the flow of the shoot. I am merely a bystander, a fly on the wall, there to document the simple moments in a pure and honest way: a first sneeze, a yawn that leads to a sleep only babies are capable of and, of course, the helpless cries that are soothed only by milk. I'm there to capture it all.
Time may pass and the baby will soon grown into a boy, but these photographs, and the memories that they will bring back, will live on over the years - that is why I love what I do with all my heart.

Wow, what a beautiful little boy. There is something very special about photographing new borns. These portraits look stunning in both black and white and colour, and both effects create an impact. However, the light tones and shades in the colour images are natural and relaxed. It's very difficult to choose a favourite.
