{Autumn} Family photography in Teddington

I've had so many wonderful autumnal shoots recently that I couldn't resist capturing my own little one enjoying the best of the season. So, with her little red trike in hand.

{Preserving family memories - fine art photo albums}

I sometimes feel that I'm more of a storyteller than a photographer - I love that I can document real family-life moments and preserve them so that they can be relived time and time again.

Family photography has been around since the early days of photography and although my style is less formal than the first daguerreotype photographs, the purpose of them still remains the same. Technology may have changed the way we produce and store our photographs but there is nothing comparable to the tactile pleasure of holding and turning through the pages of a beautiful photo album - they really are the best way to hold and preserve your family's story.

I work exclusively with Folio Albums, a small company based in Yorkshire, to produce my fine art albums. They combine traditional methods of manufacture with new technologies to create the most beautiful photo albums. Using the finest papers and a menu of cover options that include the softest leathers, silks and cottons, they are so gorgeous you'll find it impossible to put down.

If that all sounds too good to be true, Folio Albums are also produced with the highest consideration to the environment; only local suppliers are used where possible as well as ink pigments that use less toxic chemicals than in traditional photographic printing, they also ensure that their shipping is carbon neutral too. The albums come in a bleach-free cotton sleeve to protect them for future generations to enjoy and are presented in a keepsake box made of recycled materials.

To see how these beautiful albums are made by hand in my native Yorkshire - check out the following video...

After our photo shoot I will work with you to design your family's storybook fine art album which can include around 30 to 60 photographs from your session. Choose from a range of sizes: 6x6, 8x8, 10x10 or 12x12 inches, cover material and text that can be engraved or 'debossed' on the cover - the perfect finish to your heirloom-quality album.

{Blake} Family photography in Richmond, West London

I've really been looking forward to sharing the results from this session though as it has to be one of my favourites from the summer.

As soon as I received the initial enquiry I was excited about meeting this family from New York. They were planning a visit to London for a few days and wanted photographs to capture memories of their trip. After finding out more about them from my pre-shoot questionnaire, it turned out that they once lived in Kew and were in town to complete on the sale of their beloved flat. They wanted the photographs to capture their baby girl in locations that hold a special place in their hearts.

Despite a bit of drizzle on the day of the shoot we were blessed with perfect weather. After getting some lovely candid shots of the family enjoying their old home we moved on to Kew. Blake was a star and it was such a pleasure to spend the morning with the family.

I'm happy to say that they were thrilled with their photos and to preserve the story of their time in London, ordered a beautiful Fine Art Folio Album along with keepsake books and the digital collection. It was very hard for me to let go of the album and send it off to its new home in New York but I know that it will bring them all so much pleasure over the years to come.

I'll leave you with a little quote from the family on them seeing their gallery of photographs for the first time...

"I am speechless! These photos are beautiful and we could not be happier. I was teary looking at them and have probably played the slideshow 20 times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart... We can see how much you love your work after reviewing our images. You've taken so much care and thought into making sure our photos are perfect."

{Nick & Gill's Wedding} Orlean's House Gallery, Twickenham

When Nick and Gill contacted me in the deep dark winter of last year, asking me if I'd be interested in photographing their wedding I jumped at the chance of capturing their special day. We met to discuss their ideas for the wedding - how it would be a fun but classic wedding with lots of personal touches.

I first met Nick and Gill 12 years ago, working with them for a small travel company in Camden. It was a fantastic place full of like-minded people who were adventurous explorers, young at heart and always up for having fun. It should also go down in the Guinness Book of Records for being one of the best places to meet a future spouse. I met my husband there, our best man and his wife met there - it must have produced at least 20 marriages and that is no exaggeration! Although, I think Nick and Gill's was the longest in the making ;)

Before the wedding Nick had a few drinks with some of his closest friends at The White Swan pub on Twickenham's riverside. The ceremony took place at Orleans House Gallery, a little further up the river. It was a really beautiful venue for the emotional ceremony witnessed by Nick and Gill's friends and family. After a champagne reception in the pretty grounds the wedding party excitedly made their way along the river to Hammerton's Ferry where the Yarmouth Belle  was waiting to take them on a river journey to Richmond to collect more of the wedding party.

After a wonderful sail along the river back up to Twickenham, our final destination was The Wharf at Teddington Lock for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations. It was the perfect end to the perfect day. Thank you so much Nick and Gill for asking me to part of your amazing day.
