{Family photographers in Richmond upon Thames, West London}

This morning we played in Richmond Park, in and around Spanker's Hill Wood - my favourite spot of all.

We were alone. M was on fine form, running around, imagining all sorts of things. She turned me into a princess with her magic wand and we built a roof of dry leaves for her woodland house. She sang as she worked, "we're building a roof - together!", over and over again.

She didn't like it when I told her I heard the Gruffalo. She wanted to be carried until she decided it wasn't a monster, just the roar of an aeroplane overhead.

She pretended to be a princess on a tree-trunk throne - and really, I don't think she could have been happier. Then she got hungry and I carried her on my shoulders all the way back to the car and home, where she now sleeps.
