The making of a cover girl {children's photography Richmond upon Thames, West London}

I was so flattered to be asked to photograph the front cover of the May/June edition of Families upon Thames and very excited to meet this adorable little lady. Rosie is the daughter of Linda Stone who has just taken over as editor of this popular local magazine. It's essential reading for all Richmond mums and dads and I think I've dived into every edition since having my own daughter two and a bit years ago.

The morning of our shoot was grey and cold but we were rewarded with a gorgeous bright sunny afternoon on top of Richmond Hill, Surrey. Linda who has just moved to the UK from Australia wanted to use a location that shouted 'Richmond' and there's no better place than at the top of the hill overlooking the River Thames.

Rosie was a little star from the off and was quite happy in front of the camera - she immediately jumped on a tree stump and posed with her little union flagged suitcase (in tribute to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee) and gave us the biggest smile. It was a unanimous decision that this should be the photograph for the front cover.

Here's a selection of the other photos from the photo shoot and I'll let you in on a little secret (there's a  slice of toy pizza in that case!).
